Main functions

Head of Human Development Sector (Sektor Pembangunan Kemanusiaan)

Oversee the affairs of special educational needs pupils (Murid Berkeperluan Khas, MBK) and teachers, as well as the affairs of SE schools and integrated programs (PPKI) at mainstream schools

Administer the training and development affairs of Division’s and schools’ personnel

Responsible for the spending of annual government budget of about RM155 million (2020), RM162 million (2021)
Highlights

School Reopening SOPs – preparation of the SOPs for MBK when schools reopen post-MCO;

Education Development Masterplan for People with Disabilities (2020-2025) – revision of masterplan document, townhall sessions with stakeholders, implementation of strategic thrusts relating to personnel development;

Division Representative to School Reopening Technical Committee (Jawatankuasa Teknikal Pengurusan Pembukaan Semula Sekolah) reporting directly to Deputy Director General of Education (School Operation Sector);

Acting Director of Special Education Division to MOE’s top level meetings chaired by YB Senior Minister of Education, or Ministry’s Chief Secretary/Deputy Chief Secretary/Director General of Education/Deputy Director General of Education;

Heading the Human Capital Committee on the opening a new SE school – SMKPK Bumbong Lima, Pulau Pinang;

Preparation for and undertaking school visits on the first day of school on 1 January 2020, when schools reopened post MCO in July 2020, and early March/April 2021;

Heading the Vocational Certification Special Program for the 1200 vocational SE teachers with Induction certification and Vocational Training Operation (VTO);

Interview panel for Division’s new intake of Assistant Director (Penolong Pengarah);

Division Representative to Maha Chakri Award selection committee (first round selection);

Delivering a speech on MOE’s SE policies & strategies at High Level Government & Civil Society Roundtable – in conjunction with International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2019, at Berjaya Times Square Hotel on 5th December 2019.
